Funding for Malamulele Onward
To date, Malamulele Onward has been run entirely by volunteers. These volunteers include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, an orthotist, and volunteers who help with assembling and delivering equipment. The organization is reliant on international and local donor funding and the motivation and goodwill of local NDT-trained therapists to volunteer their services. It is now in a position to become a more formal organization and to employ staff to expand and extend the work already undertaken.

To date funding for projects and training courses has been received from the United Kingdom, Canada and from within South Africa. We are very grateful to the individuals and organisations who have so generously donated their time or money to helping us treat children with CP.

In particular we would like to thank:

  • the many individuals in Canada and South Africa who sent cheques, raised money, participated in fundraising events, or who provided needed supplies and equipment
  • the International Development & Relief Foundation (IDRF) in Canada.

Recent funding
The Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) has provided very generous funding to cover Malamulele Onward projects in the Eastern Cape for 2008 and 2009 through its "Social Justice Fund".We thank the CAW for their generosity, and the International Relief and Development Foundation (IDRF), another Canadian based organization, for being instrumental in arranging this funding. As a result of this support there are Malamulele Onward outreach projects happening in Butterworth, Tafalofefe and Madwaleni/Zithulele in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

In South Africa The FirstRand Foundation (Momentum Fund) has just awarded Malamulele Onward a three-year grant totalling R675,000.00 or approximately $93,000.00 CAN. This money will be applied to the overall operating costs of Malamulele Onward.

The Charlotte and Douglas Roberts Trust has funded follow-up projects during 2009 and 2010.

We are so grateful to the above organizations for their support.
